12 days Of Blogmas!! Day 10: Christmas Cocktails!!

On the twelfth day of Blogmas, TheHarviePost gave to me, a cocktail class on how to make some festive alcoholic beverages.

As we're nearing the end of Blogmas with a couple more blogs to go till the end, I thought id save the better blogs till last and be more creative to almost go out with a bang. So, to spice the blog up, I got the Harvie team including myself as judges of the Christmas cocktails. I have a couple of cocktails lined up as well as Christmas drinks for us all to try and give a score out of 10. Hope you enjoy!!

1) Bucks Fizz

What is Christmas without a bit of bubbly. Nothing beats cracking open a bottle of Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning. This simple drink can either be bought in the shops or can be made by two simple ingredients of Champagne and Orange Juice. A Christmas classic!!

2) Snowball

My Mum's personal favourite and one I have never tried. Snowball is a festive cocktail that is really easy to make. All you need to make it is: Lemonade, Lime cordial or lime juice, Advocaat and then a maraschino cherry for garnish. You may be wondering, where's the alcohol? The Advocaat contains Brandy to give it a subtle kick within the hundreds of different flavours. Snowball get's it's name from it's appearance as it has a pale colour and a frothy head.

3) Mulled Wine

Coming home or being outside and then coming inside with a cup of this will warm you up in seconds. Mulled wine is red wine but with a more fruity twist and is commonly served hot. The smell of the wine when you warm it up in the pan will send Christmas aromas flying through your house in no time. Once warmed up, pour it into your festive mug and then garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange and you're set for a Christmas evening!!

4) Eggnog

The name Eggnog comes from 2 parts, the first part being egg as that's the main ingredient. The term Nog comes from the word 'Noggin' which was used by the Middle English back in the late 1600's referring to small, carved wooden mugs which they used to serve alcohol in.  I've never personally been a fan of Eggnog as I prefer more fruity style drinks and eggnog just sounds like a cake recipe that you don't put in the oven!! This American beverage is often consumed between October till the end of the festive season. It is often served chilled but due to the seasons, people warm it up to keep warm similar to mulled wine!

5) Vodka Daisy

I found out about this cocktail in The Times as one of their Top 50 Festive cocktails so I thought id give it a crack myself. All you need for this cocktail is the following:

60ml vodka

30ml lemon juice

15ml raspberry syrup

15ml sugar syrup

Not sure how any of these ingredients link back to Christmas but I won't judge The Times haha!! Shake all the ingredients with ice and then strain into a glass of your choice filled with crushed ice and then garnish with lemon slices and raspberries.
