12 Days Of Blogmas!! Day 5: Craft Santa Log

On the fifth day of Christmas, TheHarviePost gave to me, a tutorial on how to make mini Father Christmas's out of logs.

This quick and simple idea of how to change some old logs into something christmasy is so fun, It's something that any of the family can get involved with!! I found this idea thanks to Smart Girls DIY, go check it out as she has done some other cool Christmas crafts on her page. All you need for this craft is the following:

  • A log of wood, any size will do
  • Bit of paint, red and white
  • Black marker
  • Couple of Pom Poms
  • Christmasy ribbon
First step to this festive idea is to cut the log into 3 different sizes but make sure you cut it at an angle so that when you look at it face, you'll be able to see his face when it's done.

Next you want to get some masking tape and tape a line across the top third so that when you go to paint the red hat, it will look straight and won't drip down on the rest of the log. Once the tape is down, paint above the tape red.

Next you want to repeat the same process but stick the tape around the half way point and then paint the bottom part white. Once the paints dried, you should have a white beard and a red hat.

Now that it should starting to take shape, you want to stick the pom pom just above the white beard, in the middle for his nose and then two black dots just above the nose for his eyes.

Finally, you want to get all three Santa's, or you can do them individually. Tie your ribbon around the wood and then you've got yourself some festive logs to put next to the fireplace or by the back door.

If you wanted to mix it up, you could change the colour of there hats and turn them into gnomes or elves. Or if you wanted to test your art skills, you could add more details like these people below!!

That will be it for this blog!! Let me know how it went if you tried it out yourself and I will see you in a couple of days!!
