I'm a bit late to this and wasn't going to write a blog on last weeks New Music Friday, however, there was so much good new music by some of my favourite artists that, I just couldn't help myself. So lets get started with the wonderfully talented Holly Humberstone!!
Holly Humbersone - Overkill
A new artist but not new to TheHarviePost. I have done previous reviews on her singles in the past including 'Falling Asleep At The Wheel'. This is Holly's 3rd single and it is yet another hit, it's just incredible!! On Instagram, Holly said 'I wanted Overkill to capture all the thrill and uncertainty and confusion and the many other emotions that come with falling for someone for the first time.' If you know Holly or have heard her previous singles, you can tell she enjoys writing her music based on things that have gone on in her life which makes them more personal and truthful to her.
During lockdown, making music can be very hard but making a music video could be considered even harder but that didn't stop her. Holly and her sister Eleri took an old VHS camera and a torch and explored a forest close to their home. The old camera frame gives the video such a cool and vintage effect which matches the song perfectly. Go check it out for yourself here: Music Video

Dermot Kennedy - Giants
I remember first hearing about Dermot Kennedy at Barn On The Farm and seeing him live and I thought he was ok but now after properly listening to his music, I'm obsessed with it! His songs are so upbeat and 'Giants' backs my point! Giants is based on changing and how growing hurts with acknowledging our loss of youth and how time has a role to play in change. Dermot commented ahead of his latest single saying 'Walking into an unknown future together can be beautiful just as much as it is scary. As events have unfolded over the last few months and have at times felt hopeless, this song has carried me through as a reminder that the future is still full of hope and there is opportunity in the darkness and a brighter future can await.' A song to remind us that there is hope whilst going through all of the pandemic and lockdown.
Inspired by the poem ‘What if 2020 Isn’t Cancelled?’ by Leslie Dwight, this is Dermot's first single since his debut album, 'Without Fear', which is incredible and would recommend you give it a listen after you've finished this blog!
Be sure to check his socials out if you haven't already:
Ellie Moon - MOONiSMS (EP)
Yet another familiar face to this blog page, Ellie first appeared when I got approached by her agency to do a review on her single '
Indecisive' which you can check out
here! She is now back with her debut EP called 'MOONiSMS'. Her debut EP contains 4 extremely quirky and unique pop songs including her hit, 'Indecisive'. After gaining her sound from influences from the likes of Alan Partridge and David Bowie. The EP has 3 new songs with one standing out called 'Kylie Jenner', which was written
by the dynamics, differences and social (media) pressures of groups of friends. The other two songs from the EP are called 'Promise That It Won't Be Boring' and 'Drive Me Crazy' which the first song she wrote for the EP about an ex that she didn't want to go out with in the first place and it just sort of happened.
The EP is so good and gives you a real insight of who Ellie Moon is, what her style of music is like and what is there not to like about her! It's upbeat, the melodies are fun and fit the beat perfectly. Be sure to check her out on all her socials below to never miss a release!
Kelli-Leigh - Whiskey Midnight
An artist you think you've never heard of before but you'll be surprised. After 8 years in the music industry, Kelli-Leigh has over 500 million listens on Spotify, 2 UK number 1 hits and 3 top 10 hits as well as performing with Adele, supporting Jessie J and Leona Lewis, not too bad!! Kelli-Leigh made her mark obtaining a number 1 hit with James Hype with the single 'More Than Friends' which is a massive bop!
Now you know a bit about her, her latest single is just as good! 'Whiskey Midnight' is a sensual and smooth song with her stunning yet powerful vocals. This songs see's Kelli show her more intimate side to her sound. I can guarantee this is one of the best slow bangers you will have heard in a while! Be sure to check it out as well as her socials below and remember her name as another No.1 hit is incoming!!
